Reception Hall


Mercury Hall may initially look like just another hall on a long list of reception halls when searching for "reception halls near me," but it is so much more.  It is a rustically elegant space that offers the flexibility to make your reception uniquely you.


The reception hall itself was built in 1904 by the inhabitants of the frontier town of Mercury for use as a church; the chapel survived two major fires that reduced Mercury from an eager young town to the quiet country settlement (pop. 166) it remains today. Sunday services, weddings, and prayer meetings were held in the building for more than eighty years until the decision was made in 1996 to construct a modern building for the congregation.

In 1997, Mercury Hall was moved to a secluded hilltop just minutes from downtown Austin where it now resides and hosts over 200 events each year.

The reception hall itself is 2,237 square feet of space and is equipped to handle any and all occasions, from small intimate gatherings to up to 150 comfortably seated banquet style. Its flexible layout and the rustic beauty of its original wood floors, stained glass windows, chandeliers, and white shiplap walls will give your reception that look of simple elegance. 

In addition to the reception hall, you also have access to the entire grounds for your special event; including the three outdoor garden areas (that can host both wedding ceremonies and receptions), two dressing rooms, and the catering kitchen. Because of the flexibility of the entire grounds being available for one price, most decide to have both ceremony and reception at Mercury Hall, instead of just having the reception here.

Many choose to utilize the reception hall itself for either the ceremony or reception and then one of the garden areas for the other part, and some choose to use the reception hall for both ceremony and reception. The choice is completely yours as to how you use Mercury Hall.

Catering and Bar Options

We allow you to choose from a broad selection of caterers we work with often.  We trust what they do, how they take care of our clients and our space. Please view our Preferred Catering List.  That said, if you would like to work with a caterer not on our preferred list, please contact us for approval. There are several steps to ensure approval.  Mercury Hall allows clients to purchase and bring in alcoholic beverages, but we do require TABC certified bartenders to serve all alcoholic beverages. Bartenders must be covered under at least a one million dollar liability insurance policy.

Because each event is unique, Mercury Hall has table and chair packages available if needed for your event. We also work with Premier Rentals, if you are in need of something a little more unique than what our packages offer.
